Your action is required to open a new commuter account at Fidelity. Beginning in December, you must make a new commuter election on NetBenefits® for your January 2024 expenses.

Your monthly process for electing a commuter account
For commuter expenses for January 2024 and beyond, you will use NetBenefits to make your new commuter election. NetBenefits will be available for these elections starting in December 2023. Unlike past years where you needed to make commuter elections two months in advance, with Fidelity, you can make them less than one month in advance. Below is a chart with more detail.

*Starting with February 2024 commuter account elections, the deadline to make an election is the 12th of each month.
Your debit card
If you enroll in the commuter account at Fidelity, you will receive a new commuter account debit card in the mail — the NetBenefits CommuterCard® — which will be reloaded each month you make a commuter election. This special-purpose debit card provides an easy, automatic way to pay for eligible transit expenses. You can use your card to pay for expenses at eligible merchants and service providers that accept debit cards. This card is different from the NetBenefits AccessCard®, which can only be used for health spending accounts.

The service center you’ve come to rely on for your American Airlines-sponsored 401(k) and pension is now here to help you with your spending accounts: the American Airlines Service Center at Fidelity at 800-354-3412. You can also use the online live chat feature on NetBenefits to get support for your accounts.
Your online account access
Beginning Dec. 1, 2023, you will be able to access your commuter account online at NetBenefits (netbenefits.com/aa). Fidelity also offers an easy-to-use NetBenefits app for your phone or tablet that you can download from the Apple App Store® or Google PlayTM.
Key dates
Below are some key dates to be aware of:

Dec. 1, 2023: First date you can make your January commuter account election on NetBenefits.

Dec. 15, 2023: Deadline for making your commuter account election on NetBenefits for your January 2024 expenses.

December 2023: Your new NetBenefits CommuterCard® is expected to ship to your home within 10 business days of you making your January election. Please be sure to activate your card.
