Health reimbursement arrangements (HRAs)

There is no action required on your part to transition your health reimbursement arrangement (HRA) or your retiree health reimbursement arrangement (RHRA) to Fidelity. However, if you elected the Plus medical option for 2024, you will need to complete your preventive exam to receive your $500 in credits to spend on eligible medical expenses.

If you are an active U.S.-based mainline team member or COBRA participant (including COBRA participants who retire prior to Jan. 1, 2024), your HRA rollover credits will be accessible at Fidelity on or around Jan. 11, 2024. Your RHRA balance will also transition to Fidelity in January 2024 and will be available for eligible expenses when you retire.

If you are a retiree, your RHRA will remain with Smart-Choice until spring 2024, when it will transition to Fidelity. More details will follow in early 2024.

Your debit card

You will be mailed a new debit card, the NetBenefits AccessCard®, as part of this transition to Fidelity. This special-purpose Visa® debit card provides an easy way to pay for eligible expenses. The same card will give you access to your HRA funds (and your RHRA funds when you retire) and, if applicable, to any other spending account funds you may have (except the commuter account). When you use your NetBenefits AccessCard® to pay for eligible expenses, the amount is automatically deducted from the appropriate spending account. The card will be mailed to you in mid-December 2023 for use starting Jan. 11, 2024, following the transition blackout period (more details below). You also can request additional cards for eligible family members once you have received and activated your card.
