Flexible spending accounts (FSAs)

If you have a health care flexible spending account (HCFSA), limited purpose flexible spending account (LPFSA) or dependent care flexible spending account (DCFSA), your new accounts with Fidelity were available Jan. 1.

The transfer of 2023 carryover funds for HCFSAs and LPFSAs will take place this spring and be complete in early May. There is no action on your part for these balances to transition to Fidelity.

Your debit card for HCFSA and LPFSA expenses

You were mailed a new debit card, the NetBenefits AccessCard®, as part of this transition to Fidelity. This special-purpose Visa® debit card provides an easy and automatic way to pay for eligible expenses. The same card will give you access to your HCFSA or LPFSA funds and, if applicable, to any other spending account funds you may have (except the commuter account and DCFSA). When you use your NetBenefits AccessCard® to pay for eligible expenses, the amount is automatically deducted from the appropriate spending account. The card was mailed to you in December 2023 for use starting Jan. 1, 2024. You also can request additional cards for eligible family members once you have activated your card.

Your contact for account support

The service center you’ve come to rely on for your American Airlines-sponsored 401(k) and pension is now here to help you with your spending accounts: the American Airlines Service Center at Fidelity at 800-354-3412. You can also use the online live chat feature on NetBenefits® to get support for your accounts.

Your online account access

As of Jan. 1, 2024, you were able to access your accounts online at NetBenefits (netbenefits.com/aa), where you can try new planning tools. Fidelity also offers an easy-to-use NetBenefits app for your phone or tablet that you can download from the Apple App Store® or Google PlayTM.

If you have a DCFSA, NetBenefits is where you can set up payments to your dependent care providers and request reimbursement for your 2024 expenses, either through direct deposit or a check mailed to your preferred address. For more information on how to request reimbursement, review the Frequently Asked Questions.

Please note: If you have funds remaining in your FSA from 2023 and wish to be reimbursed for 2023 expenses, you have until March 31 to submit online reimbursement requests through the Benefits Service Center. This includes reimbursement requests for DCFSA expenses incurred between Jan. 1, 2023 and March 15, 2024, to be paid from your 2023 plan year contributions.
